To be honest, we’ve never had a week so packed with history, adventure, and amazing moments… (although it was a real drag! haha).

Ready to discover the best Egypt tours for solo travelers or in groups for 1-week itinerary? Let’s go

best Egypt tours for a week

Days in Egypt are days squared , and time seems to take on a different meaning. Is a week enough to see Egypt’s must-see sites? No, of course not, Cause it has so many many places that you can visit, but seven days are enough to see the main attractions that might blow your mind and fill up your heart, they are enough to fall in love with this exotic land, and to long for a more relaxing return.

Here’s a one-week itinerary for egypt tours with nile cruise, and visiting the country’s must-sees, so let’s explore egypt tours:

Day 1:Flight and contact

First, in all Egypt tours,  you will leave from your city or country airport to and, after a couple of hours flight with Egypt Air , you will land safely in Cairo around make sure you arrive around 8 p.m. At the airport, so you can go to your hotel and have some rest,  Hache, the coordinator of the local company with which you would travel, can pick you up, but if you don’t want to go with a company it’s okay, buy an E-sim card from the airport or any esim app.

order an uber after going to the garage, make sure you know what sign you are sitting next to, so your driver can come fast, the best thing is, uber rides in cairo isn’t that expensive, it won’t cost you more than 30 us dollars in the farest place in cairo, if you boarded a minibus with your company and had your first encounter with the crazy traffic and incessant honking of Cairo. then you made it to Cairo, the city that never sleeps. make sure you have a nose cancellation headphone, you will need it a lot here,

Day 2:Pyramids and The sphinx

Pyramids of Giza - cairo tours

Second day in Egypt tours might start with Buffet breakfast at a hotel that looks at the pyramids before you have your first visit which will not include none other than  the Pyramids of Giza. classic egypt tours starts from the pyramids and words cannot explain what it feels like to touch the oldest buildings in the world which were built more than 5000 years ago… The visit lasts about 3-4 hours and includes several stops: the Pyramid of Cheops, the Pyramid of Khafre, the smaller but no less interesting Pyramid of Menkaure, a very cool viewpoint, and finally the Sphinx. Also you can have the experience of flying above the pyramids you can book from here (not an ad).

Just next to the Pyramids you can visit the biggest museum in the world (the grand egyptian museum), it’s brand new and if you visit it you will fall in love with every piece.

This guided tour is usually included in all organized trips. You have to pay extra for the tickets inside the pyramids (if you want to go). You can buy them separately at the entrance ticket office (be careful, you can only pay there, there are no ticket offices at the pyramids): the entrance to Cheops costs 300 EGP and the one to Khafre 100 EGP. Inside, they are the same, and I’m telling you that it is not a suitable visit for claustrophobics

Step Pyramid of Djoser in Saqqara - egypt tours

The afternoon can be spent in memphis egypt tours, exploring the Step Pyramid of Djoser in Saqqara. These are the first shapes of pyramids and the city of Memphis , said to be the oldest in the world. If you haven’t booked a tour , you can book it online before your visit. It includes a guided tour of the pyramids of Giza, Saqqara, and Memphis with a guide who speaks your language.

At night, you can watch the sunset and the pyramid sound and light show from the rooftop of the Al Hadaba restaurant. it will be wonderful to be able to smoke shisha with the silhouette of the pyramids as a backdrop. Plus, the homemade dishes they prepare are delicious and reasonably priced. As for the show itself… for you, it might NOT be worth the expensive ticket to see it; it’s better to have a drink from the rooftop instead.

Day 3:Cairo Tours

Third day in Egypt tours, you can explore the city’s most interesting sites with a tour or by yourself. You can start by waking up early so you can discover the impressive Saladin Citadel and the Muhammad Ali Mosque in cairo egypt tours.

From there, you can take a boat for lunch and then straight to the Egyptian Museum (the small and old one), where you will spend about three hours—and it was almost too short! The tour includes general admission (including the Tutankhamun Treasure Room; it was moved now to the grand museum), but not the mummy exhibition, which costs 80 EGP. If you want to take photos inside the museum, you’ll have to pay 50 EGP at the ticket office (be careful because you won’t be able to take photos of the treasures or the mummies).

and you can spend the afternoon walking through the Coptic Quarter , where you can visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue , where the Holy Family sought refuge for three months while fleeing Bethlehem due to Herod’s persecution. and you might end the tour at the Khan el-Khalil Market it’s a very old islamic market in old cairo, a maze of streets filled with bazaars, cafes, and tea shops. If you’re not sure where to stop, we recommend El Fishawi coffee shop, known as the “Mirror Cafe.” A paid tour can last for about 8 hours and includes food, entrance fees, and a guide.

When you head back to the hotel you might be quite tired and you can have dinner and sleep for the next day’s adventure, but if you still have energy, Cairo is super sexy at night, so you can have a Cairo night tour . It might be expensive, but if you decide to do it alone you can meet people through dating apps and have a coffee with them.Stay away from grider because the police is fishing queer people and there are also some thieves that might mug you after fucking. tinder and bumble are better.

Food in Egypt is very cheap. However, it’s a good option if you want to get to know more about the country’s chaotic and dusty capital.

Day 4:Flight to Luxor

4th day in Egypt tours might be a “lost” day, one of relaxation and transportation. You can wake up peacefully, have breakfast, work a little if you have some work to do, and at 1 p.m. you can be transferred to the airport: to go to start luxor egypt tours and begin the Nile cruise . Other people might prefer different flight schedules; if you have the choice, it’s best to leave as early as possible to have time in Luxor and take advantage of the day with some sightseeing. You can see guided excursions from Luxor here .

Some people who travel early to Luxor visit Karnak Temple, and the next day they can take a hot air balloon ride over the city (it is magnificent)  . At the same time if you don’t have time you will visit the temple where you find those huge temples that were built thousands of years ago!

After dinner on the cruise, you might do a night tour of Luxor, although it can be done in a horse-drawn carriage, but you can go out on your own. There’s also a night show at the Karnak complex .

This itinerary is usually for those who plan to travel with a 4-night cruise, but on agency websites you’ll see that there is an option for a 3-day cruise. In this case, the flight would be to Aswan, and the temple visits and other activities would be reversed.

Day 5:Luxor Temples and Valley of the Kings

Here you are and your Egypt tours arrived to probably the most interesting day of your Egyptian travel itinerary. you can wake up very early, around 5 a.m., to begin all your planned visits. head off to one of the most impressive temples you would see in Egypt, the Temple of Karnak . From here, you can watch the sunrise with your guide’s explanations, get lost among the impressive columns of its hypostyle hall, and be amazed at its size (it’s the largest temple in the entire country and apparently the second largest in the world, after Angkor in Cambodia).

From there, you can go to the other main attraction: the Luxor Temple . The two temples were once connected by a 3-km avenue lined with 300 sphinxes.you can spend around an hour exploring the halls and nooks of this impressive site, learning a few interesting facts about life in ancient Egypt, almost with our jaws dropping in amazement.

It’s time now to cross the Nile River and visit the other side. The next stop was none other than the Valley of the Kings . It’s a kind of gorge carved into the rock, in the middle of the desert, where the pharaohs found the perfect place to build their tombs and, in theory, rest for all eternity. It took many centuries, but not eternity… the site wasn’t hidden enough for the looters, who razed almost all the treasures the pharaohs were buried with. They desecrated all the tombs except one. That’s right, Tutankhamun’s, who went down in history for his treasures and much less for his significance in the history of Ancient Egypt (he reigned for only nine years).

The entrance fee only allows you to visit three tombs, although there are currently five open. Following the guide’s advice, you will go to the tombs of Ramses IV (KV2), Meremptah (KV8), and Ramses IX (KV6). Others also went to the tomb of Ramses III (KV11), and it seems to be pretty cool too. If you want to visit the tomb of Tutankhamun , you’ll have to pay an extra 100 EGP, although they say it’s not worth it since there’s practically nothing inside (although we say that because we didn’t go, hehe). You can see a map of all the tombs here .

What you’ll find in these tombs is a gallery filled with incredibly well-preserved hieroglyphics and polychromatic decorative elements, leading down to the room where the sarcophagus containing the pharaoh’s mummified body was placed, along with the treasures with which he would pass into the afterlife. Crossing its entrance is like entering a time tunnel and going back thousands of  years ago, and as you descend toward the burial chambers, you can’t help but feel a slight chill… even though it’s quite warm inside, hehe. It’s definitely another experience you must have in Egypt!

Taking photos inside the tombs is prohibited, unless you get a permit for 300 EGP. Be careful, because the guards are very alert and if they catch you, they’ll delete the photos after a scolding. Some people bribe them with a tip (please don’t do that), it’s always better to follow the rules (we’re either that good or that bad, depending on how you look at it hehe).

The morning will not be over yet: after stopping by a handicraft factory (you know, a touristy one), you might visit the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut she was a fantastic queen then, but one of the most peculiar pharaohs in the history of the country—she was a great woman.

The tour can end with a quick visit to the Colossi of Memnon , where you basically get off the bus to take a photo and continue the tour. Around 1:00 or 2:00 PM, you can return to the boat and begin sailing toward Edfu, aswan the lovely place where people have the warmest hearts ever, where you would spend the night (we recommend) . It was, without a doubt, the most tiring day of the trip (but also one of the most beautiful) it’s better in winter than in summer, but in both cases don’t forget your sunscreen.

Day 6:Edfu and Kom Ombo baby

luxor egypt tours

Luckily, this day in your Egypt tours won’t be as tiring as the previous one! Aswan is the cooller! In the morning, you can visit the Temple of Edfu, dedicated to the god Horus and home to some of Egypt’s best-preserved hieroglyphics. Later in the afternoon, after a few hours of sailing, you will arrive at the Temple of Kom Ombo to watch the sunset from there. This will be the visit you enjoy most. as the Kom Ombo temple is super interesting. The complex is divided into two twin temples, each dedicated to a different god: Horus and Sobek, represented with the body of a man and the head of a crocodile!

After sunset, you can sail back to the cruise ship and head towards your last stop: Aswan the city. Don’t miss the spectacle of passing through a lock from the deck of the ship.

Day 7:Abu Simbel, Philae and Aswan (beauty egypt tours)

The alarm clock rings at 1:30 a.m.! The reason is worth it: we’re off to the Abu Simbel temples . 250 km south of Aswan, bordering Sudan, are these two temples, dedicated to Ramses II and his beloved wife Nefertari . you will be thankful to visit them, because they almost disappeared beneath the waters of Lake Nasser but they survived and moved to their current place.

When the Aswan Dam was built, these temples, which had previously been 200 meters lower, were almost submerged. But the Egyptian government appealed to UNESCO for help, and with the support of 54 countries, they were able to be moved to a safer location, a historic feat.

Is it worth getting up so early? Absolutely: visit them as you are already there.

In your case, this visit might be included in the package, but if you don’t have it, we recommend booking it online at this website. As always, photography is not allowed at the most important sites (or is, with a paid permit).

On the way back, we stopped at the Philae temple , which is very interesting due to its location in the middle of a small island in the Nile. The only way to get there is by small boat, and the visit is quite interesting.

On the way back, someone visited the Nubian village . We decided to stop by (there were animals in the way, and we were also very tired). What we did do was take a felucca ride  along the calm waters of the Nile, and we really enjoyed it. It may seem very touristy, but since you’re there…

At night, we were offered a night tour of Aswan by bus, where we visited a mosque, a Coptic church, a market (which turned out to be a spice shop), smoked a shisha, and had tea in the city’s main square. Aswan is a much quieter place than Cairo or Luxor. Famous for its spices, we recommend exploring it, either with a tour or on your own. You’ll notice that the distance between the cruise port and the city is very short!

We returned and after dinner went straight to bed… the next day we would have another early start. Oh, we love to sleep…

Day 8:Return flight

We saved an hour: we only have to wake up at 2:30 a.m., haha. And we thought it was going to be a trip for retirees ! Tired? Very tired! But it’s a trip that everyone, sooner or later, should take. Egypt is such a special, unique destination that it’s impossible not to love it. It’s exhausting. And noisy. And dusty. But it’s wonderfully beautiful. We hope to return to explore it further.

Oh, and we forgot one previous point: get good travel insurance! This is essential for every trip, but even more so in this country.
